COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

The Course study uses the body as an instrument for personal insight comprising expressive, original movements with theoretical structure along with an innovative and artistic movement experience from ancient Indian dance literature. In this manner, the dance therapy and creative choreography includes evolution, principles and aesthetics, purposeful approaches, techniques and discipline in correlation with other Indian arts which can be used in group and individual performance.

ANGIKABHINAYA (BODY LANGUAGE)

Training via technique-based precision in body language with strong foundational training adhering to purely classical dicta;

STUDY OF SHASTRA (THEORY)

Research, rediscovery and reconstruction of ancient Sanskrit treatises for an insight into splendours from our traditions for creation of movements;

INTER-DISCIPLINARY STUDIES

Application of Shastra into Sampradaya, i.e. Theory into Practice;
Interrelation of arts - exploring the transcendent liaison between dance-sculpture, dance-music, dance-literature, dance-painting, dance-yoga;

ANCILLARY STUDIES IN LESS-EXPLORED SUBJECTS

The influence and relevance of dance in travel and tourism, media, photography, stage management, event management, light-design, set-design, journalism, creative writing and critical appreciation;

DANCE PEDAGOGY, CHOREOLOGY & TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Dance Academia and Evolution including cultural history, social development and understanding of new-age terminology like contemporary, modern, oriental, neo-classical;
Writing dance in notation – A detailed study of Acharya Parvatikumar’s immaculate dance and music choreology technique;

PERFORMANCE, CHOREOGRAPHY & CREATIVE PRACTICE

Expansion of your repertoire. Study of text, meaning and layering to create choreography. Understanding the founts of choreography. Creative application of shastric knowledge and creation of innovative movements.
